OOAK Luciana Ring
OOAK Luciana Ring
Within a textured, gently wavy setting sits a polished Mexican fire opal. The opal looks like it’s bubbling to the surface of the stone, and displays the fire opal’s distinctive bright orange color with flecks of iridescence. The setting sits on top of a thick, tapered ring with smooth edges, making it easy and comfortable to wear. Originally hand-carved in wax, I applied heat to the wax ring as a last step to make it feel more organic and ancient. It was then carved in recycled brass and given a slightly worn, matte finish.
Luciana is a Spanish name that means “light,” a reference to what looks like sunlight emerging from the stone itself.
Details:
One of a kind
Size 7
Mexican fire opal
20mm wide at the front, 2.5mm at the back
Recycled brass
Made by hand in our Catskill Mountain studio
Opal Care:
Opals are especially soft and delicate, requiring a bit of extra care. We highly recommend removing your opal jewelry, especially rings, before exercising or playing sports. They tend to absorb liquids, so be sure to take them off before showering or swimming, and before applying perfumes or moisturizers. Opals also don’t like sudden, dramatic temperature changes, either, so avoid wearing them on ski weekends or into saunas.
